Trying to price up a top spec medium stoater build. I'm contemplating selling as it just not getting used, I bought as a bike for life but I really prefer mtb. Build wise it's got all the options rohloff, son28, plug3, middleburn belt drive, tubus front rack, edelux 2 light. Stans grail rims, Co motion drop bar shifter, trp hylex hydro brakes, pdw guards, cowbells. it's gorgeous and cost over 4k new last year and in mint condition
Price wise imho it's definitely not the usual half purchase price but I'm not sure what it's worth. I would be willing to part ex or trade with say a Jones or a stooge, krampus or something else rigid chunky even fat and bike packing suitable or even something else entirely different:)
And ideas on worth it really is little used. Has just had a fresh niner biocentric bb fitted too which wasn't cheap.

The problem you've got is that it's quite a personal purchase.

So anyone with £2500+ to spend would probably prefer speccing their own.
You'll have to find someone who reeeeeealy wants a Shand Stoater Rohloff specifically, likes that colour and size and is happy to get one cheaper than RRP.

If you find that person, it's definitely worth £2500+, but you may need to be lucky. Possibly not enough people in ebay to drive the price up enough.

Good luck!

Make it a large, and about a grand cheaper, and i'll take it. Lovely bike. IMO you should stick it away for a time in the future that the bike bug comes back.

? Buy the Jones (steel F+F and wheelset) for about what the sale of the shand will loose you, ~£2k. Get the Shand rebuilt with 2x11 105 on a bar end shifter, keep those hylexes. Make it the lighter, quicker bike it maybe should be?

Build the rohloff into a wheel for the Jones for touring somewhere remote, sell the belt parts. Or just sell all the rohloff kit ..

A Shand CX/winter roadie and a Jones is about all I'd ever need in my garage, aside from the few other experiment frames and bikes that inevitably appear. As good as the Jones bikes are imo they don't replace a nice, quick-feeling road/easy dirt track capable drop bar bike.

Think it would definitely be worth splitting.

You must have liked it when you bought it.
Who wouldn't?

Maybe give it a bit more time?

That's a versatile bike that could cover a lot of bases and take you to some very interesting places.

Plan a ride round the bike?
Love takes time.

Isn't that black contraption on top of your seat post (with white writing on) the same as what ton uses? See if he wants it?

Oh I want the seat still Tom 🙂

Jameso the problem with that scenario means I have to have the extra cash upfront, which I don't unfortunately

Decisions decisions lol

Just wondering if Shand would sell it for you on commission.

Other than that, you could try some of the more niche forums such as VeloVision or even YACF.

There's no doubt a good bike somewhere in there; the Shand frames look mint. But the setup of the thing guarantees it's gonna be no fun to ride.

Get rid of all the stuff that's stuck to it; fit some normal road gears (I imagine you could sell the Rholoff wheelset for quite a bit), drop handlbars and turn the stem the other way up. Problem solved, and you'll probably be quids in aswell.

Psst, you're supposed to put frame size in stealth adverts.

It's odd, if I think about bike pic's posted on STW, that one is the one I think I've seen the most. It's not a bike for me, but I appreciate the thought put into it, very much. So you must love the bike in someway?
I bought a gt grade as gravel riding seemed intriguing and appealing, but I realised either I don't really know what gravel riding is or the bike doesn't really add much to the riding I love. So I did what davidtaylforth advised; I slammed it, threw a load more carbon at it and have made a very nice road'ish bike. It just doesn't do what my road bikes do for me. It's about to returned to stock and sold. So things are a great idea, then just end up a bit meh!! Good luck getting rid.

Got to agree with David. In its current guise the market will be limited. Take all the bike packing stuff off it and stick on a sensible set of bars and you'll get more for it. Or break it up and sell the parts.

I'll give you £400 for it.

I'll give you 410 🙂

As others have said, take the guards, rack and other stuff off and go ride it. I use mine almost as much as the moonter just for the fun value. It looks like it has been turned into something a little too specialised. Give it a chance to shine

Oh, and 420 here 🙂
