I've just split my 2nd rear tyre this week, Chiltern flints both times. ๐ฅ
Tuesday - a Mud X TLR run tubeless and latex, ripped a +5mm hole in the tread and an equivilent one in the sidewall.
Today - Jones TLR also tubeless and latex, ripped a finger sized hole in the tread - obviously the latex left at high-speed as well.
Last summer I ran a Crossmark/Racing Ralph combo, both UST and had no problems at all.
So want a UST pairing with more tread than my summer set, but obviously less than Mud X's and the like. Happy to run unmatched pairs, but they will be latex and tubeless.
Any suggestions?
Just jacking it up the line...
Been surfing, anybody tried the Schwalbe Rocket Ron 2.25 UST, will it give me the toughness (along with lightness) I want?
Hutchinson.
Maxxis UST.
Bontrager compromise strength for weight, their TR tyres are weak as. Mud-X 1.8s are ok and maybe Earls (not tried them), but I'd never run their normal TRs tubeless.
(I got 5 punctures on one race using ACX TLRs!)
I've seen a rocket ron rip, but here in Spain it is pretty brutal on tyres too.
UST nobby nics have let me down several times on flinty trails
Halo Choir Masters UST, on special at CRC at the moment.
Tough as old boots.
I had a similar lack of pleasure with the Bontrager TLR tyres I tried; tore them open on the first rocky section of trail I came to. I am a big lad, though.
Am very impressed with the Conti UST Rubber Queens I have on one bike, but they might be a tad on the heavy for you by the sound of it?
I have Specialized 2Bliss tyres on the hardtail and I've been immensely pleased with them over winter. They seat well, are more robust than the Bontrager TLR's, and have a really nice dual compound.
Ive been liking LUST high rollers since the snows gone
Thanks, only 80kg and I usually ride 'light'.
Hmm, not looked at the Big S.
