... The Sram DB5 lever has developed the sticking piston problem and his rear brake was partially locked on whilst riding. I had to laugh! 😃
He's not fit at the moment....having owned a car for a few years and hardly riding a bike at all but I think he was relieved to find a mechanical was part of the problem... 😉
So.... Off with the lever tonight for a quick wet and dry piston makeover!
Joy..... 😊
Call it resistance training ๐
Next ride will feel like cheating for him now though! ๐
Went for a road ride with a mate when I got back from Oz, was fairly unfit after all the stress of moving, on a borrowed bike and after about 15km he asked if the brakes were still rubbing or was I THAT unfit ๐
I once went for a xc ride with a bunch of lads I'd never met.ย My wife had given me a bit of a big build up ("very keen; always on his bike" etc)
Took my brand new supertacky (or slow reeezy or whatever) swampthings, as it was a bit wet and I didn't really know what they were like
Christ, that very nearly killed me
Hour 7 of 12/14 a few years ago, I stopped for a quick bit of food and to change brake pads.
Rode off after 15 minutes thinking, wow my legs have really seized up after stopping for a bit too long. 4 laps later I stopped again for more food, Picking the bike up to carry over the tape I noticed the front wheel didn't spin. Checked the wheel and front brakes were 50% binding due to a seized piston. Swapped pads back for the old ones for last few laps. Felt like I had rocket up my ar$e!ย That was a tough year!
We have an emergency rim brake on the rear of the tandem in case the discs fail.
We broke two spokes during a french tour last month and the wheel was a bit buckled but it was 40km later before I realised why we'd been struggling so hard & got round to disconnecting the vee brake cable, we fair sprinted up the rest of the 1100m col doh!
