I own a 2005 Specialized Hardrock that I would like to make some modifications. Here is the spec:
The bike served me well until I started riding proper trails, at which point it wasn't really up to the job. I've recently taken a huge leap and upgraded to a Canyon Nerve XC7 (2011 model).
I would like to make the following modifications to the Hardrock:
1. Fit some rigid forks (the RST feel like they weigh a tonne). Would these fit?:

2. Fit disc brakes - the frame has disc mounts, but I have no idea what else I need. Some basic shimano or Avid brakes will be fine. Presumably I will need disc specific hubs? Or can I convert my current ones?
Sorry guys, I'm really not technically minded.
Eventually I'd like a singlespeed set up too, but we'll leave that for now!
don't know about question one, but for question 2 you'll def have to upgrade the hubs to disc compatible ones. (it's probably cheaper to just swap your wheels for some 2nd hand ones off here).
