Seen this term in my fork manual and in books and websites, always wondered what it meant.

Here's the only definition I can find via Google, courtesy of Urban Dictionary (and I don't think it's the right one somehow)...

when you do too much of the drug GHB you either fall into a unwakeable sleep for up to a few hours or begin doing things you would not usually do.

It's when you go down a u-shaped dip and compress everything at the bottom as you level out and start to come back up again.

It's the moment when you think [i]Oh, ****![/i] and either crash breaking the forks etc. or get kicked up the slope with a silly grin.

You also tend to wake up suddenly without actually realising you were asleep and attempt to continue the conversation you were in the middle of when you g'd out.

Yup, it's what happens at the bottom of a bombhole or similar bit of path
