And i never had so much fun and can't belive how addictive it was. I wanna build another one now.

It is a brand new Cove Handjob frame and i've done everything on it bar faceing the chainset.

This is where my question arises, should i know having built it all book it into the lbs to check everything over?

I know it sounds daft having done all the hard work myself but i just thought maybe have the gears and what not checked?

What you reckon is it a waste of money having it checked over?

yes!

if the wheels are clamped onto the frame / forks properly and the forks are nice and tight in the headset and the brakes work to a skid with your full weight over the rear then you'll be fine!

Waste of money IMO.

I would confess to be a complete mechanical numpty of Olympic standard and have built up several bikes without any problems.

So long as you have checked there is not play in the headset and have tightened the key bolts OK and sure the brakes work then what can possibly go wrong!

Perhaps a bit of bad shifting - but you will soon sort that out.

I built up mi singlespeed back in december. Didn't get anyone to check it over - that was a thought which occurred to me at the top of a very steep flight of steps.

Fortunately I seemed to have done a fairly decent job as the bike managed to make it all the way down without collapsing and putting my front teeth into my larynx.

Just go and ride it.
