My fault. I don't have a torsion wrench. I tightened it to (handlebar)nm and heard a clicking noise. Upon riding it today in this wonderful weather I heard an almighty crack, got off the bike, nudged the crank with my toe and it fell off to the sound of my s****ing.
Anyhow, lesson learnt, and anyone reading this can themselves learn from my mistake.
