Looks like a couple of the DH regulars like Danny Hart, Morgane Charre & Vero Widmann are having a crack at Snow Biking this weekend.

Anyone know if you can watch this on Discovery Plus ?

And, apparently, a pensioner and a slightly younger mate

Claude Gex, DOB 1954.
Benoit Fellay, DOB 1961

Fair play!

Anyone actually know the format?

Mass start vs time trial? Just an open piste or will there be slalom gates/obstacles to negotiate?

From here..

Two competition formats on snow, directly inspired by alpine skiing, are on the programme for this inaugural edition of the event: super-G and dual slalom.

The Super-G races will descend the Aity piste then the Stade Linga (total of 1,957 metres long with a vertical drop of 600 metres). The distance between the gates will be at least 25 metres, as in alpine skiing. The riders will start one by one, a minimum of 40 seconds apart, for a single run.

The dual slalom (comparable to the parallel slalom in snowboard and alpine skiing) will take place on the Linga piste, which is 510 metres long with a 155 metre vertical drop (around 30 seconds of descent). The competition will be composed of a series of elimination races in which two riders go head-to-head on two parallel slalom courses. They will compete against each other in two heats, switching courses for the second heat. The rider with the fastest combined time advances to the next round of the competition, up until the final.

Scott Beaumont! There's a name from a few years back. Wasn't he top at 4X?

Had to check Fabio Wibmer wasn't in it - he's been practising 😀

Still is, he wins the British 4x championship every year

Setting up a new snow sport format given the current climate situation seems optimistic to the point of delusion to me?

The current climate in Chatel is... decidedly un-snowy. I was fatbiking there last weekend and had one completely snowless ride (in the rain) and one we bailed on as the snow was glassy ice.

The course is bloody steep! This is about half way down. Rather them than me!
