My missus has intimated that she wants a smaller frame, she's currently riding a 17", but she's only 5'4'.

She'll never buy one herself, so I'm thinking about something up to £150, XS/14-15" and preferably green.

Her birthday is at the end of August, if I buy now, I can start looking out for other bits/pieces I may need to complete the build.

Any suggestions? I was thinking about an on-one, but they don't seem to have anything in stock which fits that criteria.

Edit: Ah, sorry, missed the price limit. My bad.

Pity. I might be able to stretch to £200 for the right frame, but given the inevitable bits which will also be required, trying to keep costs down.

Any idea what the deal is with those slotted Inbreds if I want to run geared?

That Sunn looks OK actually, compatible with her current components.

I think 16" is pushing it a bit, I'm not sure she'd see much benefit over her 17"

14" S/H Inbred & a trip to the powder coaters. Inbreds have a long top tube so 16" will be too long IMO. Spesh Hardrock in 15" another possible contender.

The Slot inbreds have a gear hanger as part of the drop out, just slam the wheel right to the back of the Drop-out and it a mech/cassette as normal...

you might find removing a wheel marginally more faff but it will work...

Cool, that's what I was hoping, Fire Engine Red might be a go then.

Powdercoat isn't a bad idea either...

5'4" and riding a 17 inch frame? Jeepers.

Maybe also see if you can find a Trek WSD hardtail frame second hand - 14" or 15" would be perfect. It will probably weigh a small fraction of the Inbred, too. At that size, weight is pretty critical - my wife (also 514" tried a number of bikes, including a 17" Kona a friend loaned her - but was really comfortable on another friend's WSD, and eventually bought one of her own. She lends it out to a lot of other ladies, and they also rave about it.

I might have a 04 Explosif in 14" flavour to sell in a couple of months (but it's blue). Might be too small though (as my 5' 4" daughter is moving up to a 16" 456).

and to counter that.. my other half, also 5'4, has recently acquired a 14" kona firemountain, which she says fits perfectly..
she also says that riding my 16" 456 is like being perched atop a giant barge, and the lack of standover height hurts her 'fu'..

Commencal Max Max? Should be able to find a second hand one cheap like I did.

I bought the former miss Kayak23 one in that colour. Its a gorgeous frame but horizontal dropouts.
