I want to replace the existing shifters & mechs on my FS.

Is XT worth the extra pennies over SLX or is it just bling factor?

Regarding shifting performance and functionallity is XT measureably better than the SLX?

Cheers folks

SLX shifters supposedly have the same internals as the XTs. The XTs have metal levers and/or a slightly difference casing.
I'd rather SLX and a couple of quid in my pocket, thanks!

As much as i love slx, i don't rate the rear mech or the shifters. The rear mech is quite agricultural compared to an xt, and the shifters don't have the same positive click as xt. For everything else though, slx is spot on.

Decisions, decisions - looks like XT might win

skids-> so in other words SLX Cranks, brakes and cassettes are good, shifters and mechs not so

Had SLX on my last bike, new one has XT, can't say I notice any difference.

Bingo! It's not that the slx mech is "bad", but if you had one in your hand and an xt in the other, the quality difference is obvious. The slx cranks, brakes and front mechs are excellent. I have all of the above, and can't fault them one bit.

Well I've just fitted a XT shadow rear mech and a pair of XT shifters.

Shift quality is fantastic, I like the metal levers too.

Just gotta wait for fekkin CRC to deliver my rear brake (only been 6 days now) and I can ride the mighty Helius once more.
