With a double ring and bash guard chainset, like the SLX, are the rings in the same place as a triple or are they further outboard? i.e. does the mid rear sprocket line up with the mid-point between the two chainrings or the larger of the two?

long story short..
same place..
you loose the outer ring and the bash is in it's place. i know of ppl who run it 2.5mm wider to supposidly get a better chain line..
