Skew-wiff Starnut - solutions?

Decided to take the SWAT tool out of my steerer and replace with a standard star nut.

This is something I've done numeroius times before - used a proper tool - but this time managed to mess up somewhere along the line and now its not sitting square.

Any tips on what to do? Best way to remove a star nut - I'm sure I can sort it with a big hammer and bar but wondering if theres an easier/more elegant way I've not thought of.

Thanks

Bash it down and stick in another one?

Thread a longer bolt/rod in with a small ring spanner over the thread and then gently tap the bolt with a hammer putting pressure on the spanner to correct the alignment. I use a length of old steel seatstay that just fits snugly over the allen bolt but also contacts the nut then when tapping pressure can be applied to straighten it up.
