Trying to put together a SS build but am a complete novice builder. Seen a Hope ss hub for sale but is it exactly same width etc. asa normal cassette hub? Is it worth going down this route rather than a normal hub?

It's like a normal cassette hub but much narrower... I think it'll take something like six 9-speed sprockets, or, obviously, a single shimano-pattern sprocket with some spacers. The distance between the flanges is thereby increased to allow a stronger (symmetric?) build.
Some people get through bearings pretty quickly on those Hope hubs running SS (just saying).
