For Morzine area next year, do-able or a stupid idea?
If you use the uplifts, why not?
It wouldn't be my choice of bike.
Does seem an odd choice. Hard work on the climbs and too low geared for extended descents.
i had a normal sized wheel ss in the alps when i lived in morgins the i used a mix of uplifts and hard work lol the only prob i had tbh was i only had 70mm travel forks and v brakes.
why not stay at home?
Would be more fun.
why not ride a proper bike?
would be more fun.
Or that. yes
Yeah big wheels with only one gear are a stupid idea on hills. Three words: MTB. Himachal. 3rd.
Only you can decide if it will be fun and that depends on your mind-set and what you want to get out of the holiday.

Depends what you call a proper bike.
My idea of a proper bike would get you arrested if you were to try and ride it in a touristy area of the alps. ๐ฏ
A work colleague went to Morzine recently with a group and one of them rides a SS 29er. By all accounts he managed perfectly and enjoyed himself as much as the others!
Not a new idea. There were some epic trips through the Alps in the 1890s on singlespeed 29ers (well 28" with 2" tyres). Still worth a read today.
