Preferably on a 5 - mine currentlyu comes out of the back and has a shap loop in it but often gets buzzed by the rear tyre under full compression.

I'd rather not swap it to come out the front as its a bit ugly - I've heard of people usiong V brake noodles

Buzzed by the back tyre??.......How much cable have you got sticking out the back? You can shorten them you know.

Out the back and then tuck the cable to the right [ when looking fwd] underneath the front mech cable on the top tube/seat post.
Works loose occasionally then tuck it back under but I do swap it between bikes so dont do anything permanent

Your cable must be too long to buzz the back wheel

Its not that long but I'd rather not bend the cable housing anymore - gonna try the noodle thing I think

Yeah, I've seen the V brake noodle used to good effect.
