Currently hanging onto 2 pairs of humvees from 10 years ago, they have been amazing but as i wear them most days, showing their age!
Whats like them in cut and fabric as the newer ones are flimsy and short in comparison!
That’s a good question and I’m in the same spot. Tried some Nukeproof shorts out but not a good fit - I’m large in the humvees - the Nukeproof mediums were too big round the waist and the small were good on the waist but too tight everywhere else. Material didn’t feel as strong / durable.
Just waiting in some Fox Ranger Water shorts to arrive and will see what they’re like. Supposed to have a DWR coated bum hence the ‘water’ bit.
I find the current ones a similar fit to the older ones. And they are the only shorts that are actually short, and not going all the way down to my calves. Other shorts had to be shortened/cut down.
My only issue with Humvees is that the pockets are not tough enough. Have holes in a couple now, and am too dumb to repair them.
I remember those fondly too, my first pair of MTB baggies and they were a tough act to follow.
The closest I have at the moment are Troy Lee Ruckus, which are a great fit (on me) and a bit more sturdy than most of my baggies.
Madison Zenith lasted really well too.
I have had very old Humvees and Singletracks (10+ years old) and found the newer shorts to be very much longer, not shorter. In medium or large, they came down well below my knees, and I'm 5f11 with standard proportions.
I bought a pair of Singletracks and shortened them to sit above the knee.
Still using mine from 15 ish years ago. Made from the heaviest and toughest material ever back then.
I like their newer ones too, but they are a far lighter design these days.
I also have a pair of Maddison Zenith shorts which seem tough, but long. Had to cut about 3 inches off to keep them above my knees.
Yeah, I have a couple of pairs of probably 15 years old Enduras not sure if Humvees or singletracks. I love em which is just as well as they refuse to die.

That's why I liked mine.
🙂

If I could go back in time... I'd tell my younger self to buy 3 pairs of the Singletracks mk2, as they were the best biking shorts I've ever had, and the quality nosedived after that. My mk2s eventually died, just wish I'd bought more of them first

Yeah, forget buying Bitcoin, this is the way to go.
😀
Timely post as in the same boat. Bought my humvees in 2010 and apart from coming off on first ride and damaging them on the knee a bit I'm still wearing them. Thinking on fixing the rear big pocket that's split.
Looked at Madison shorts as possible replacement but 12 years is brilliant.
I moved from Humvees to Fox Rangers.
