LAST MINUTE NOTICE OF A RIDE.....

I just realised that this week in the snow is the first time I've ridden an MTB in over 5 months! (lots of road miles but no off road fun) I've been tired, works been hell, the rain has been torential bla bla bla but really I just could muster any enthusiasm.

But I now have that itch to get some miles under my knobblies.... so it's supposed to be crisp tommorrow with a little cloud but no snow/rain and I've resolved to go riding BUT.... I have other essential stuff to do tommorrow as well so to stop these things again being the excuse for not riding (as so often this year) it has to be an early ride, setting off about 8am (or earlier if you fancy a bit of night riding in the predawn - which would be nice)

Does anyone fancy a 15mile ride tommorrow morning?

The plan is to Park the car in Saltaire (car park next to Fanny's Pub), then riding my normal route of: Northcliffe woods, cottingley woods, harden, st. Ives estate, then canal towpath and road to Milner field (Sir Titus Salts House) round shipley glen and then down into saltaire again.

It's going to be cold out there so winter kit is essential and if its a nice crisp day a camera would be good to throw in the back pocket (or I'll have mine)

Lights and camera batteries are now on charge and if no-one puts their hands up to say yes I'll be setting off even earlier.

So any takers? Leave a message on here if you are definataly coming.

OK I'll take that as a no from everyone.... ah well I'll be on my todd then.

Still at least I can wimp out 1/2 way round if I feel like it and not have to worry too much.

There's still time to sign up for this crazyness if you want to (I'll check back before going to bed)

el Gato & King Taka....

Can only do it in the evening this week. Not sure what the North Leeds lot are up to so I'll check but otherwise I'm free on Tuesday night and would be up for a ride (assuming it's not pissing it down as freezing rain and 1/2 frozen slush/snow isn't exactly a recipie for fun.

But the forcast is for more cold weather so it should be OK

I'll post tommorrow once I'm back from the ride having checked out how the route is holding up.

Taka

Where about are you? I'll be coming in from York (after work) so if it's on route somewhere I could probably squeeze another bike in the back of my citroen.

I know Oxenhope - used to have some research set up on the moor above you.

You not got a car? If not I guess I can swing by Oxenhope on tuesday night (assuming I can get out of York on time) as I live off the Halifax road in Bfd and one of the routes to Saltaire goes that way - assuming the roads round you are clear?

check out www.bikemagic.com, look in the Rides forum for North Leeds.

it's a regular-ish route in the winter

Some good routes there. I'm up on Baildon Moor several times a week; part of my commute from Baildon to Salt's Mill.
Do keep an eye out for the Friends of Baildon Moor group we are setting up to represent all users of the Moor in promotion & protection.
I'll post more (sorry for the pun) in due course.

Taka

I'm not going to get out of work tonight early enough to get to Oxenhope as well.

I know thats a bit crap but workds crazy busy at the moment.

We're meeting up in the car park near fanny's pub in Saltaire about 7:30 so if you can get there you're very welcome to join us - the more the merrier.

Sorry
