Hi,
I need to replace my broken cage on ZEE fr version.
I can see that Outer cage part is available under 5Y5 9803 but which inner plate should I buy to match?
Cheers
Michal
This worries me. I got a Zee because it looked tougher than XT / SLX... What happened?
Isn't Zee just the SLX rear mech with a shorter cage?
5V5 0840, it's the same part as Saint M810.
Just broke my zee rear cage got quoted £30 for a replacement, a new mech was only £40 so went for a compleate new mech instead
Seems to me that some one could do a good bit of business making aftermarket mech cages and knocking them out a reasonable price.

It a thin bit of aluminium, if you bash it with a rock it will bend/break. I don't think the cage on my zee is any weaken than my slx cage.

I bent mine beyond full use 10 yards into the first stage of the Enduro World Series. Just scuffed it against the side of a rut. Managed to limp round the rest of the day with very limited gears and crap shifting. Bloody thing was only two rides old!
To be honest I am not sure what happened - suspect a stick or branch getting stuck on a way down...
Got a new one but want to salvage the old one to have spare if needed...
Thanks for help!
Michal
Is there an exploded diagram of the shimano zee rear mech?
Could be useful in putting things back together 🙂
Sorry - got it!
Yes, just google RD-M640 EV and the first link will be the PDF exploded diagram. You can do this for pretty much all Shimano components. You can also google the part number followed by SI to get the service instructions.

What? Like this?
Mine bent, not the cage but the aluminium main body that everything is fixed to/hinges on. The thing was twisted up a treat.
