I know shimano says they are not compatible but loads of people have used the older 8100 levers and calipers using lower viscosity mineral oil to alliviate the wandering bite point, so what do people think about using the new 8220 calipers with the older 8100 levers? my calipers are shot so wondered if it was worth a go? if it doesnt work then i can upgrade the levers down the line. just wondered if the hydraulic hoses and fittings are the same and if i would use the new or old mineral oil?

seems like you’re the first! give it a go and report back please! 🙂

edit: i never got the wandering bite but i have two sets with microleaks so if just changing the caliper (all the rest stays the same) fixes it i’d be delighted to know about it

disclaimer: shimano will prob advise you will die in a ball of fire but that didn’t stop the johnsons baby oil experimenters!
