USA and Canada only at the minute but surely will be worldwide. I've cracked 2 in the past and have one of the named cranks fitted to my winter bike...
This annoys me - I had this happen a couple of years ago, but they point blank refused to warranty it!
Oof, this sounds expensive for Shimano.
I've got 6800 cranks on my winter bike and my fiancee's bike. I suspect they're both fine - they're not the only sets I've had and they've all been rock solid in my experience - but I'll get them checked anyway if it does roll out here.
My son has had 2 break on him and has never had any luck in getting replacements. Would be good for it to be extended to the UK!
I have the R8000 on my Scott, interested to see how this develops
Same here, complained on Twitter, they told me to go swivel. I’ll find the link.
Replaced the delaminated arm with the same and it delaminated!
Ditched em and got Praxis, but i still have the busted ones so hopefully they’ll finally warranty them. Not holding my breath though
2 years limit on each

numbers on line now - bet they are going to be a bit busy...
Did I keep mine? No idea, but I doubt it - I shall have a look…
I had a set of Ultegra 6800 crack on me in Jan 2022, well outside their warranty period. Leisure Lakes took care of it as I got the bike through them. Got a new set of Ultegra 8000 - thanks to Andy at LL in Nottingham!
This annoys me – I had this happen a couple of years ago, but they point blank refused to warranty it!
They've known this was a problem for ages and ignored it. Refused to warranty a known fault. How many of us have binned the broken cranks and now won't be able to claim?
Its shocking service. If anyone else did that they would lose so many customers but it doesn't seem to have effected them at all.
I have watched the video, it's says if there are any signs of separation or delamination get it checked at a local authorised Shimano dealer. However I have also heard people have had failures occur with no warning. The last time I checked my bike that has Ultegra 6800 all looked fine so it's as you were for me. Definitely disappointing for those that have had failures in the past and weren't helped when they occurred. It's good that they are doing what should have been doing finally, no doubt due to the fact that it carried on to the newer released groupset upto 2019, and wasn't just on Ultegra 6800 infact which is what most if the incidents I had heard of were using.
Anyone done the recall? Just remembered it, but I've only got the left arms now, so doubt I'd get anything, despite having to replace 2 cranksets within 4 years.
Yeah, took mine in last week and they failed inspection, 6800s. LBS said they'd inspected 11 sets and only 2 failed and even then they have to go to Madison for a further inspection. They also said no warranty cranks available and they have no info on lead times etc because they haven't been told anything. All a bit of a fiasco. I've asked for a set of 12 speed ultegra for my new bike but I'm not holding my breath
IIRC there is now a class action in the states about this. Can't remember the details, I imagine its much like the thoughts on here - you know they are going to fall apart and I don't fancy riding on them until I find out one day when I break one so give us a replacement regardless of inspection.
What's the weight penalty for a 105 crank over Ultegra?
Might well be easier for Shimano/Madison to offer the option of a more reliable 'downgrade' plus partial refund instead of replacing every other pair of Ultegra cranks out there...
