hi there i have a shimano deore front hub and in the middle of my ride today it just suddenly had a huge amount of play, it is now unrideable because of the severe play, i have tried tightning the cones and they are tight and makes no difference, any ideas of what i can do or are they shot? any help would be appreciated

thanks

Probably need to stripit down to see what's going on inside. If unsure how to check out the Park tools website and shimano tech docs site too.

freehub's probably come loose, if tightening the cones doesnt solve it

Sounds like one or some of the bearings have left their rightful place. Time to get in there and have a look!
Your hub is probably still recoverable if you haven't ridden too long on it broken.

Park tools. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but when this happened to me it was terminal. One of the bearings had been damaged/cracked and then gouged a huge score around the race.

Strip down and see if there is any damage, service and replace the bearings. Check the axle is ok as well.
