There's this great "cheat" on ebay whereby you can bid at any time before the auction closes.

sniping service maybe, but bidding in advance (literally) is for losers or rich buggers

anyhow, it's not just my loss - ending at commute o'clock prob lost the seller 15 quid or so I'd guess
