I snapped my aluminium frame and just above the front mech, but managed to get our welder in work to repair it. Only problem is, I had stripped everything off the frame except for taking out the bottom bracket (which needs replaced). Now it is completly stuck, possibly due to the heat from the weld, and won't budge at all.
I've tried soaking it in WD40, but there is no movement at all (its an old taper job).
Any ideas, without totally ruining the frame?
get your welder to put in a new bb shell?!
but seriosuly, try and give it a knock, the impact may release any bond between the two materials.
simple stuff first, make sure you're turning it the right way (anticlockwise).
WD40 will do bugger all, plus-gas is a proper penetrating solution, try that or coke.
Get your mate to weld a spare BB tool to the end about 4 foot of (sturdy) steel rod, make sure the frame is secure and get bouncing on the end - lots of leverage is much more effective than percussive persuasion.
give it a whack first, it can't do any harm but if both metals have bonded, simply turning it with a big lever may tear out all of your threads.
