Thinking of getting a dropper post and used a digital measuring stick thing to measure the diameter. It was 31.63 when measures side to side and 31.60 front to back.I assumed this was just a bit of squashing.

To be sure I checked another bike which has 27.2 printed on it. Side to side was 27.21 but front to back was only 26.93. That seems more squashing that I was expecting.

Is this normal?

Obsessing about the size of your 'post'? No, most men are happy with what they've got 😀

I'd say that a few hundredths of a millimetre is within normal manufacturing tolerances

I thought that seat post sizes went up in 0.2mm increments and that is a 0.3mm difference caused by oval-ling.

Not too worried as I had never noticed it before and only noticed this time because I had a digital measuring thingy
