In my very long experience I find it's the 'dry' bit that's the killer.
Three top layers today and my 'special' gloves, you know the ones that DO keep you warm but render operating any controls impossible,
Overshoes in wifes car 👿 and winter boots have the wrong cleats on, double 👿
Might even take a camera phone with me today as I'll be going so slow.

Take a buff to cover your month and nose, excellent for taking the chill out of the downhills, (road that is). Was the same temp over here yesterday, makes it more rewarding when you get back.
