’m going to press the button on a Saracen Ariel 30 Pro. Just wondered if anyone had any views or experiences on sizing?

I’m 182cm / 5ft 11.5”. I can see they size on the big so unsure whether to go Medium or Large. This will be my first full sus as I’m coming from a Large Trek Roscoe 7.

Thanks in advance.

Size chart has you bang in the middle of large.

so, that.

Thanks. I would normally go straight to large but given that the medium Saracen is a similar size to large in many other brands, I was looking for some real world views on this. Guy Kesteven has done a good review on his YouTube page and commented on how he sized down on this. It’s a lot of money (for me) to spend without trying one so looking for some help.

I have a Pro 30 in medium and at 5'"11 with a 480 reach and its perfect. The large is over 500mm if I remember correctly, that's too long for me. Also has the benefit of being a trendy mullet. Bloody love mine.

I'm 6 2" and ride a large, but I'd say I'm between an L and XL and could probably ride either.

Large for sure. They only seem big if you look at the reach figure in isolation.

I am 5'10" on a medium - the seatpost is a long way up, but reach wise is perfect. It's a banging bike.

If I were slightly taller I would maybe go for a large... maybe.

If you were 6ft, would that change your size choice?

You can make long bikes 'shorter' without impariing handling (shorter stem, move saddle forward, bar roll etc). You cannot make short bikes 'longer' without ruining the handling. I'd always err on the side of longer, assuming the seat tube length/standover is acceptable.

Thanks mate, that’s helpful. Maybe it is the large that gets it then!

I trust you guys love the bike? Anything you’d change with it straight away or was it great out of the box?

Mine's an Ariel Eeb so not a direct comparison but no complaints, it just works, quiet, linkage is nice and burly with big chunky bearings that seem to last, very stiff in the turns, easy to live with, good geometry, just a solid, sensible tool for the job, ideal UK rig really.
