[Closed] Santa Cruz reserve filmore valves and one up pump

Has any one else got this combo?

My edc pump just slides right over the valves and doesn’t connect (tight enough) to actually force any air through

Is this just a one up pump thing? My topeak presta head track pump works perfectly

Just wondering as I’ll likely need a new hand pump unless somethings wrong with my one up pump

Mine works fine, I just let a tyre down and pumped it up again. I’m assuming air pressure is pushing air past the valve since it isn’t pushing back into the pump. My OneUp pump has barely been used so the seal will be pretty sound, is your’s letting air past?

Cheers thanks for the reply

Hmmm interesting does yours actually feel like it fully connects?

Yes basically on mine it’s so loose the head just slides over the valve and it’s like I’m just pumping fresh air into nothing so letting all the air past (probably is putting some in but not a noctiable amount)

Weird though if yours is fine especially if you’ve emptied the tyre of all air there’s no way I could pump mine back up from empty if that’s what your doing?

Mine took a tiny bit of a shove to get on then felt looser once the pump head bottomed on the rim. Only variable I can think of is my Fillmore valves are fitted to some Roval carbon rims so maybe don’t have as much stem showing as most alloy rims? I don’t know the actual rim depth.

I let the tyre down to pretty soft and pumped back up to about 20PSI. Not too much of an ordeal with the OneUp pump and I was interested to give it a try in the shed rather than the middle of nowhere

Interesting I’ll drop one up a email see if it’s a issue with my pump or not

Yeh exactly no way in the middle of nowhere would that work for me on mine - I’m on carbon hoops too they are quite low profile so maybe it could be that, but not sure really as I’ve put my track pump on no problem and that’s not a screw in head either just bottoms out like the one up

Thanks for checking for me though, appreciated! Hopefully I can get this one up to work as it’s easily the best hand pump I’ve had but it will have to go as I’m not ditching the valves they are bloody incredible (for valves)

Hope you get it sorted. I’ve now tried my push on OneUp pump, a lezyne screw on and Topeak screw on mini pumps. Joe Blow twinhead track pump plus a Fabric pressure gauge that screws on and Topeak digital push on gauge. All of that lot have worked fine on the Fillmore valves for me

they are bloody incredible (for valves)

Agreed, almost worth the money 😀

Perfect thank you buddy! That’s a very informative test you’ve just done me, I’ve got a dual head Topeak track pump that’s fine too, I’m sure I’ve got a lezyne mini pump somewhere too so I’ll try thread that one on

Seems like it’s going to be as the one up pumps a bit old and likely distorted over time maybe, hopefully will be able rebuild it or something and get it working again thanks again though 👊🏻👍

@oscillatewildly just maybe I have newer Filmores than yours? Just seen this

https://nsmb.com/articles/what-gear-was-actually-new-sea-otter/

Which says

The original Fillmore Valve (pictured) has a a recess and an unthreaded portion that makes inflation with some pumps (or at least OneUp's EDC pump) very difficult.

Do your valves have the recess?

The article also says (and I hope you’d get the same in the UK)

If you, like me, have a pump that doesn't work with your Fillmore valves, Reserve will send you a new set. I am waiting on confirmation about how this will work, and what sort of proof of purchase is required and I will update this article once I have that information.

Hey bud

Yes mine do have the recess too so maybe that’s why, are yours all the way straight with recess?

Makes sense then as I’ve still not got it working even though one up kindly sent me a seal kit for the pump!

Yes, mine have the plain stem. I had no idea there were two versions but when I saw that article it immediately made me think of this thread

Your a star bud - confirms it then I wonder why mine are old I only had them just two weeks back! Must have been laid around a while! Hopefully I can get them replaced otherwise my expensive one up pump is useless thank you again 👍
