So I've been have a few chain slipping off chainrings recently. It usually happens when im hitting speed on rocky descents. Its a new bike and I kind of want to keep the 3 chainrings on front, as spending a ton of changing to a double+guide seems a bit extravagant seeing as its so new.
The two options seem to be:

or

Anyone got any experience with either of these? The bionicon one looks neat, but I imagine it would wear out. I have no idea how well the E13 one works.

help please 🙁

Bionicon are good, and spare black tubes things are only £8.

Got a whole shelf of these in the shop right now. Inc new silver... Black is a few weeks away.

This vid shows what it does and how.

It's just a reinvented DCD

They were shit.

Put it in the big ring to get some tension in the chain.

Yeah thats what I have been doing, but it still drops off causing a loss of power as I have to re shift to get it back on.

Going from 3 to 2 rings isn't expensive. I bought a blackspire stinger for £20 and a bash ring to replace the big ring and haven't dropped the chain since. Admittedly it was a Hope bash at £30, but you could pick up a Shimano one off the classifieds for about £10.

You sure the chain is the correct length?

I like my C-Guide a lot. Can't tell it's there apart from the chain staying on and reduced chain-slap.

The other option (or in addition) would be clutched rear mech such as a Shimano Shadow Plus.

I run a C guide, and I think they very good, the black tube can be removed and turned the other way or upside when one end gets worn. but I have not needed to do that yet and ben on the bike for most of the year.
