Looking to route an IR dropper post on a 2014 Giant Trance. Can get it down the down tube but gets stuck at the bottom. Can it be done by removing the bottom bracket and the up the seat tube or does it only take an external one. Is there an easy way.

Hi Tracey,

It'll be a bb out job to fit an internally routed dropper, or at least the easier way to do it.
I built up a 2015 frameset so had the luxury of fitting the dropper before the bb.
Plenty of room to feed the hose through so it should be grand.

Phil

I have a'13 giant reign and wish it had the capability to internally route the cable for the post,it's caused a bit of cable on rub on my maestro top arm on the suspension.Bloody nightmare,I didn't fancy routing it all down the seat tube and under the BB but might need to

The easiest way I found was to use a new gear cable inner and thread down the seatube, the bb does a good job of directing the cable up to the downtube (you may find putting a slight bend in the gear cable helps. Hooking the cable out can be made easier either with a bent spoke (or similar)

Once the gear cable inner is threaded through, then slide over the outer. If threading a reverb hose, then use the red connector as per the reverb instruction.

I have a Small 2014 Trance 4. Recently fitted a Reverb Stealth.

I kind of bent the cable a little before I fed it through, but only took me about 2mins of waggling to get it up to the out port. I then used a pair of small pliers to grab it and pull it though.

I did not have to remove the BB.

Sorted. Used Sir HC method and went through first time.

Forgot to mention, its worth wrapping the cables in foam tape or Velcro (as above), as this will prevent the dreaded cable rattle.
