I'm off camping this weekend and wondered if any of you know any good routes with a bit of downhill around that part of the lakes. Not wanting anything too long 30km would be a max for me.

Thanks for any ideas

1) Up the zigzags to Kepple Cove and down Sticks Pass (or vice versa).
2) Up to Boredale Hause and down Martindale then back along the lake shore.
3) Up Grizedale Valley & Dollywaggon (ugh!) and down Lower Man (YAY!) and either of the first 2 descents

and someone will probably say Whinlatter...

Simon, are these easy enough to find on an os 1:50,000 sheet of the area?

Thanks

dead easy ๐Ÿ™‚

The zigzags and Sticks Pass are accessed from an open green space in Glenridding just past the post office. Sticks is on the right after you pass the youfie.

Boredale BW starts near Side Farm across the valley from Patterdale

Grisedale valley is on the left after the church just between Pat. & Glen.

Simon, ta for the info in thwe end we ended up doing the ullswater loop (which I think is quite a well known one from MBR. It went out to pooly bridge and back, it was pretty good and had had a couple of nice gravity assisted bits. I found that a couple pints in the Sun Inn in Pooly Bridge put the power back in my legs to get home.
