What are the bridleways like from Dunsop Bridge? I've been meaning to check them out for a while but very rarely see them mentioned on here. Are they worth doing?

yes, but best in dry weather: http://www.bogtrotters.org/route/showrouteframe.php?route=61

The climb from Rams Clough will be boggy in places, followed by a vertiginous singletrack DH to Brennand Farm. Dunsop Fell itself is also boggy in many places, but no less fun for that, and can dry out if there's no rain for a month (?). It's best to take the rocky DH to the end of Salter road and then climb up the other BW from Gold Hill

Hi Andy - how's it going? Must get together for a ride again one day. I'm still recovering from this bastard CFS/ME or whatever so I'm not really fit for much at the mo.

Hey Andy, doing Kentmere on Sunday now it's dried out a bit. Give us a shout if you're interested. Be good to meet up again now the suns out.

Toby

Did a similar route to simons last night, a little boggy in places on the top of dunsop fell but the descents are all dry. Some very tricky decents. Definitely worth doing, the descent from 19 to 20 on simon's map is excellent ,very rocky and technical.

yes, Whitendale, very steep and rock strewn, with multiple routes through the heather, some with hidden deadfalls 🙂 Thankfully the heather usually gives you a soft landing!

Cheers SFB – will try that route out. Aware of the sponge like qualities of Bowland but was running around Tarnbrook last week and didn't seem too bad

Grum – a few of us are getting out on Wednesday evenings for an hour or two and trying to make it a regular thing feel free to come along if your feeling up to it.

Toby – doing Staveley/Kentmere loop tonight, so I'll let you know how its fairing up. Hoping to do Parkamoor on Sunday, but would be good to meet up again soon

Cheers SFB

note that there's a track running parallel to the road to Langden Intake - with a couple of stiles. Also the track from Whitendale Farm near the end is nominally a FP (actually a pipeline), but it's excellent singletrack with an exciting steep zigzag finish!

Ouster Rake off Whin Fell is an absolute hoot.

depending on conditions, around 4..5 hours, though if you read the attached report you'll see 6h+ - it was stiflingly hot and humid that day, we all ran out of water, and I drank from a stream near the intake!

Ouster Rake off Whin Fell is an absolute hoot.

ie downhill before marker 9:

No probs Andy. Did Parkamoor last weekend, very rocky but great fun. It was still raining though, think I must be cursed with that route. Watch out for the 4x4 and motocrossers. Met both coming up, whilst I was going down.

Been looking at Dunsop Bridge route as well, but waiting for the sun to come out. Maybe this summer I'll get a chance.
