Has anyone here circumnavigated the World by bicycle? Any routes to share please?
No, but I cycle toured various bits. My top tips, if these are possible on your final route: spend time in NZ as it's ace for touring, and hit the NW of Vietnam and visit Laos - stunning and fascinating.
Here's a link to my dad and step mum's ride from 1999-2001: www.transworldcycle.com/ They originally planned to only ride to Australia but once they got there decided to turn it into a round-the-world
Bookmarked. ๐

His latest tour ended when he was robbed at gunpoint.
When they get to within a few yards I realise something is wrong. No smiles, animals on the hunt. The first guy who is about 35 reaches into his pocket and pulls out a gun, this is serious. The other younger man with stave in hand helps drag me out of the tent. With the gun to my head Iยดm in no mood to argue against their blows. My options are limited, stay calm and pacify. The aggression is real and frightening. With a gun to my temple I try to make them understand that Iยดm no threat. The plastic rope they bought is lashed about my ankles and wrists. Iยดm able to pretend by twisting my wrists that the bindings are tighter than they really are, leaving myself a small way out. Now Iยดm thrown on my side, and worryingly my head is covered by my jacket. Shouts of unintelligible Spanish fire between them, and the muzzel of the gun presses hard down above my ear.

For world record attempts the route has to travel in an east-to-west or west-to-east direction, be 18000+ miles long, and have two antipodal regions, all of which somewhat limits the options.

which is one of the main reasons i would not go for the world record - aside from the fact im not that dedicated to the cause I think it would be a waste of a perfectly good cycle you would miss SOO much imo. But different things drive us all.
Turn left at the King's Head and keep going.
