Dig out those water proofs boys and girls.
Stand up and be counted.
nbt is leading a gritty, rocky, hilly, muddy, swoopy, fun filled ride around the lesser known part of the Dark Peak.
All welcome, sociable pace, however a smidgeon of fitness is required 🙂
me please 8)
Is this the bit where I raise my hand and say 'I'm in'? 😀

is there suitable terrain for me to christen my new bike?????????
Tsk - would love to join in and despite my sometimes abrasive attitude on here I'm fine when riding. However, the crappy little 3 series I have at the moment won't accept my Enduro from any angle, never mind what I take off it.
Don't suppose anyone from the Matlock/Darley Dale area is going with a spare space?
What's this one Ton?
Add me as a nigh on definate +1'ish
What's this one Ton?
helius fr......but built light....... 😉
Oh yeah, I saw the piccie, mahoosive tyres though?
I might bring my Helius CC now
built light perfect for you then ..will see what parts I want from it 😉
I am a probable and will confirm Fri/Sat
Count me in!
I'm in, as long as my shoulder continues to improve 🙂
nbt - you're leading!!
I'm in, travelling from Runcorn if anyone wants a lift.
i'm out, i've got children duties this weekend. Hope the weather is better than last weekend.
Yup I'm in.
So long as the rain is falling to earth rather than going sideways into your face it'll be more pleasant than last weekend.
is this a 'bringalonga cake ride'?
is this a 'bringalonga cake ride'?
http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/is-stupid-still-an-acceptable-term
if i am there I will, as always bring some cakes.
cheers nbt... I'm be sure to make you a 'special' slice for that 😉
Erm......What time we starting? and where from?
Arse. Away with the family in Patterdale. Thats 2 rides I've missed now.
There is even talk of me being dragged along to horse riding on Sunday, god forbid.
Have a good one people, I'll be there in spirit.
I think so. I might bring a mate along as well.
should be g
So long as the rain is falling to earth rather than going sideways into your face it'll be more pleasant than last weekend.
BBC forecast is currently 'heavy rain shower' - if only they could tell us what time and what duration said shower will be......
oh, hang on...... answers will be 'Sunday, all day long.......'
i'm also a "should be". will confirm at the weekend as the cold is still loitering a tiny bit and it gets on my chest really badly...
how far will it be?
We had a reccy about 2 weeks ago and it came in at 23.5 miles.
It is very hilly though, so even though that doesn't sound alot, you'll feel like you've done more by the end.
There are places to bail out/cut sections out if needs be.
I'm in unless the Mary Townley ride on Saturday has a competitive edge. In which case, I'll be trying to get the feeling back in my legs on Sunday.
Yes I'll be there, with the OH. Be good to see you again bunnyhop!
23.5 is the base - we can increase it if need be, but I think we'll be cutting it if anything as the weather is not forecast to be brilliant so the pace may be slower. We can decide on the fly.
Lots of faces coming I haven;t seen for a while, and lots of new faces. Looking forward to it!
Waves to Trio and Al.
*bump for the last working day of the week.*
Fit your crudcatchers folks, it's been wet here this week!
if I can shake off the man flu i'll be there, it will be my first Northern Chapter ride so be gentle with me 😉
Meh not gonna make it - made myself ill again last time I went out biking. 🙁
we'll be there come rain or shine , will pack sun lotion and waterproofs .
I'm almost certainly out. My stunt double to take my daughter to Man City has dropped out and my mate is insisting on the Mary Townley tomorrow no matter what time so that'll be a ridiculously early start, near kill myself riding and get back in time for the match!
Somebody please kill me now.
grumm - was hoping you could come, then we could share notes on our illness situation. Mines under control at the moment. Hope you feel better soon. 🙁
barca - I think you'll be fine, it's sociable pace, not a full out, racy, ego fuelled macho ride 🙂
hp_source - can you bring lots and lots of jelly babies, we've got extra sour haribo.
Sadly J, tomorrows ride is now on a 5'ish (but not much more or I'm snookered) hour schedule so I [s]suspect[/s] know I'll be hobbling on Sunday.
I'll do my best to get there for the start. I was looking forward to it.
I'm Hayfield trail questing so it'll just be a hi in passing unless there's faff carnage road blocking going on then it may be more do you have to...
Forecast currently sunny but cold....... 😀
<goes off to pack thermals alongside his smidgeon of fitness>
Remember follks - 9.30am PROMPT DEPARTURE TIME. If you need time to faf, get there early!
cake made... 😀 puncture (from last weekend) fixed, chain oiled. I think I may be ready
NBT Im hoping to be there tmw. cheers
JC
Giving it a miss. MTL first thing this morning, City this afternoon and New Mills bonfire this evening, I don't think I'll see Sunday a.m.
I might bump into you all part way round if you're still out. I'll probably go over to Mellor Cross to get my legs loosened up again.
Cant make it sorry for late notice missed two in a rowas my wife thinks its OK to go to Bucharest for 10 days ....Fine for rest of year mucho points banked though.
**** me, they are dropping like nine pins.............
bit of mud n rain never did no one any harm.......... 😉
I'm coming just hope I can find the start point! 🙄
(I've no idea what lies beyond Hayfield in the Peak)
I'm out, got too much on tomorrow afternoon
Great ride, cheers for the company everybody. Knackered now, off to the pub for food before we fall asleep! Some pics uploading, they'll be here shortly...

Cheers guys, that was ace - great to put names to new faces or maybe the other way round. And to catch up with some old faces too. Some I even remember the names for... Lovely ride, good company, what more could you ask for? Oh, yeah, caramel-coloured sheep 🙂
Great ride, thanks everyone. Cake at the end being the highlight!
Great ride, weather, company and of course cakes! Cheers guys and gals for a spot on day out.
not a chance i would have made it out of the car park, think i have a chest infection rather than just a cold now as my lungs feel tired and useless today.
Gutted. Looks like a brilliant day out. Were the steps on the path from the shooting hut ?
Great riding round there.
Evenin all - yep, thanks again one and all - great ride out, new faces, new places and cake!
I did want to pull the 'book of excuses' out once or twice today and look for the short road home but made it round and so glad I did - by 'eck though, I'll sleep well tonight 😀
Were the steps on the path from the shooting hut ?
Arrh, they certainly were. Cheers everyone, really enjoyed the ride.
great day people
nice route, nice to meet everyone
i am ****ed............. 😉
Yep me, Conor and nbt are slumped in front of the telly.
Great weather,
good company, and fantastic cake.
See you all soon for another one.
Cheers everyone that was a really great day. Enjoyed meeting new faces not that I'll be much good with names! The ride had all the right ingredients (much like the cakes) great route, excellent organisation, good company, a mid ride pub stop and cakes too. Fab! (and some good photos too!) 😀
Gutted.
Me too 😥 looks like you had a great day - certainly better than last week!!
We'll do another (properly organised and scheduled) one in summer for those who missed out.
I was pushing a little too hard to stay towards the front of the group so I could fulfil my guiding duties, it caught up with me when we got home (nowt to do with three pints and a huge plate of food), I was in bed at 8.30....
I was in bed at 8.30....
Lightweight - some of us made it to 8.45 before hitting the hay 😉
(following 2 pints of girly lager and a chinese!)
Just washed my gear - first time ever I have use the 'pre-wash' button 😯 - note to self - don't forget crud catchers next time.....
Next job, clean the bike, pack, then off to the Dales 😀
Thanks again for organising and have fun on the 'Saddleworth Ride' recce next week
Are there anymore photos from anyone?
19 of us at the start, however one poor chap had to head home because he forgot his shoes. How often have we all made that mistake. 😳
Thank you NBT and Bunnyhop and everyone else that made yesterdays ride a fantastic day. I can't believe i've got such great routes on my doorstep that i didn't know about. i'll be wearing out the middle moor track next weekend! Great company and great cake as well.Thank you. (I was on the black and white trek fuel ex)
You are welcome. Remember to sign up for the South Manchester Massive, not all the rides are that local but there are a few and we could even end up hijacking the group and organising rides in the south of Manchester...

Had a great time, thanks everybody, lovely to meet you all. (esp nbt and Bunnyhop for the fab hospitality!). I'm glad I didn't take anybody out on any of the descents. I told nbt there was a reason why I should always go first...
I honestly can't remember many names-faces but look forward to another ride some time next year.
