Ready to order my new bike, but unsure which rear shock to go for
I want to get it right first time as it's not something I'm likely to change
The vivid air is an optional upgrade, but is it more of a downhill shock as apose to an all round shock?
I see upgrades as better as apose to different, which I think in this case is wrong
The bike will be used for a bit of everything not just downhill
What would you choose?
On mine I've gone for the 'upgrade' as I'll be using it less for all round stuff, more gravity assisted riding (and the shop let me have it at a better than normal price.) Word on the street is if you want a more all round bike, the monarch is the one to go for. Like you say, no better or worse, just different.
So, when you ordering your nomad? 😉
Vivid is slightly heavier and better set up for downhill (as good as a coil in many scenarios). Damping is more controllable and you have the additional rebound damping for big landings
Monarch will be fine for anything in the UK but that's not the point really 🙂
Put on whatever you want...it's your bike. I'd be happy with a monarch tbh

Apparently it's now 3-5 week delivery time to the U.S, so I'll be looking at end of June to me
I think I've decided to go for a large, at 5ft10 I'm between sizes but 31inch leg so I reckon I need the reach of the large
So are Invisiframe making a template from yours and applying it while they have the frame?
Knowing how much I struggled to fit a length of heli tape straight on my BFe's downtube I may have to enquire about sending mine off when I'm back in the U.K
I think so yeah. Either that or they are just doing them on a 1 at a time thing until it becomes worth them making a standard kit. You never know, by the time your bike arrives, a kit might be available and your lbs will be able to do the fitting. That's what's I did with the Solo, iirc was £60 for the kit and £60 to fit it, though stif did it for free as part of the deal for me 🙂
