So time for an upgrade on the old knacked 5th elephant air as spares are running super low (its pissing oil out of every where and it make a nice clunking noise, it still rides pretty nice though).

A friend has one of the Rock shox air 3.1 something or the other for sale.

Don’t see too many people using them or at least talking about them are they any good. How do they compare to fox and manipoo?? Are they reliable??

Other questions I have but are not essential include!

How will it cope with glentress and afan, especially the black runs?? Will owning one give me automatic membership to the STW high horse society?? What tyres should I use for fitting the new shock?? Will having one of these shocks in my pocket enable me to ride my SS down a DH run like cwmcarn faster than all the star troopers on 25" travel DH bike??

thanks

i have a monarch 4.2, performace wise i can only compare it to some crap Manitou Radium i had before.

Generally it is very good, but on a couple of occasions it has lost all its air. Solution has been to pump it back up?

Great shock, i've ridden it back to back with a RP23 and defo prefer the Monarch. 2010 should see a lot of them coming stock on new bikes, Santa Cruz now use them.

I rode and own a 4.2

The 3.1 is the same shock it just doesnt have all the adjustments etc. It's the same damper.
