Bought a road bike for training and general fitness from the front door.

Just wondered if there is a road equivalant forum, and if any one has any advice on getting the most out of the training for helping the mountain biking. i.e short fast rides or long steady rides... what kind of time/distance do I need to be covering.

Mainly been doing 15-20 miles in 40min to 1hr stints at the moment, but starting to feel more at home with the position now.

road cc, bikeradar, roadcycling uk and cycling weekly all have useful forums - though none of them are as busy as STW, or have the same breadth of relevant and irrelevant topics, or opinionated posters.

On a personal level I have found that regular 35+ mile rides have really improved by stamina, and I try to include quite a few hills in all my rides which has greatly improved my climbing ability on a MTB.

bikeradar is good. Nice atmosphere and helpful. Not quite as colourful as here though....
