[Closed] Road disc option other than Kenesis CX disc wheels

I have just bought a Genesis Equilibrium frame to build up as my only road bike for comuting and weekend / evening road rides. I was going to put a pair of the Kenesis CX disc wheels on it but they seem to be out of stock everywhere until mid / late January. Are their any other decent options around £225 for a pair or do I just have to wait.

I bought the Mavic but was looking at Novatech (available via LBS)...

He said decent, Fubar 8)

The Aksiums, while cheaper, weigh 2kg.

Which brings me to Mavic really missed the boat here. Given the upsurge in disc road/cx/tourer bikes, all they do is release some anchors for £170, or some fancy ones for about £700. If they had put out a set of strong, 1650-1700g wheels for about £300-ish, they would have cleaned up.

Yep...about .5kg less than stock wheels that came on my bike. They have stayed round so far...they are not low spoke count jobs.

Mavic Aksium Disc as above not a light as the Kenesis but have a few advantages over them. plus they are available and you'll still have some money left for a trip the pub or whatever.

Not only Mavic missing the boat, but Fulcrum don't even have a disc option last time I looked.

I've been looking at the eBay carbon jobs, but I'm a bit wary...

I just got some xc 29er wheels for my commuter. Road disc is going to be expensive for a while as they want to scalp the early adopters but personally I can't really see why lightweight narrow mtb wheels aren't just as suitable.

(I went with Ryde XCs which I think are probably too wide for most folks, but skinnier rims are available)

The problem I found with some 29er MTB wheels is the freehub won't take an 11 speed road cassette. I thought about building some wheels with XT disc hubs but this was the stumbling block for me.

Ah, good point, I hadn't thought of that. Some will be, or convertible, though

Because narrow 29er wheels are not compatible with Shimano 11spd road cassettes......
