I use mtb shoes with a carbon sole and speedplay frog pedals. Loads of float (feel very weird when you first try them) and you can walk properly

I don't ride for hours and hours but the cleats are a reasonable size so wouldn't expect major problems if I did

speedplay do make road pedals as well but I guess you lose the easy walking

I've just got some Time Xpresso pedals. The instructions suggest they have some float, but I haven't ridden them enough to tell yet.

Look keo with the red cleats. They have 9º of float and loads of movement.

I use the red cleat Keo's at the velodrome, however find the time rxs more knee friendly

stiffer shoes and the same pedals or lighter versions? I run Mallets in the mounain bikes and candies on the road bike.
May also help to know what about your knees is dodgy? (not me but consult a professional on bike setup/bio mechanics)

My road bike's got Time Atacs on it, which makes things easy as so does my MTB 🙂

In all seriousness, why not just use Atacs if that's what your knees are used to?
