Any good riding around Minehead? Mrs and the inlaws are heading there next week and wondered if I should join them for a few days....
With Exmoor on Minehead's doorstep & the Quantocks not too far away I'd say bring yer bike & have some fun ๐
I'm sure the Exmoor & Q's STW regulars will be along soon to tell all about it....
If I had the time I'd come and join you, as it is I'm working get the explorer OS and look at all those lovely bridleways amid the contour lines. Just follow your nose it's as good as it gets down this way.
Tonnes. Get an OS map for starters.
theres good riding right from the harbour end of the beach, a bridleway which takes you over to porlock. Great views and a good climb.

Satellite mode gives an idea of the terrain.

Still prefer the Quantocks though ๐
One of my fauvorite rides:
- Up to the ridge from the rugby club (Ellicombe)
- Head west along the ridge
- Take a bridleway that drops into the back of Wootten Courtenay
- Over to Brockwell
- Bridleway over Luccombe Hill toward's Webber's Post
- Road to Cloutsham and then bridleway over towards Stoke Pero
- Sharp right onto bridleway down into woods
- Over stream and up the other side into Horner Wood
- Through woods down to Horner
- Over A39 to Allerford, then over to Selworthy vis farm track
- Bridleway by church up to top of Selworthy Beacon
- Along South West Coast Path towards Moor Wood, bearng left into the woods, and then zig-zag your way down through the woods (look for sharp left turns on pretty obvious paths)
- End up coming out by the roundabout at the end of the road that runs along the seafront, and get stared at by all the tourists, who can't understand why your covered in crap, have bramble shredded arms and a massive grin....
One of my favourite rides. Sorry I don't have a better description. It's been in MTBpro/MBR/MBUK/etc.... a few times over the past 15yrs or so......
