My camera doesn't do it justice. The ACTUAL colour/s is very similar to the old Klein Attitudes (bluey purpley ones) but a bit darker.

If you'd like me to restore your frame then email eddelag at yahoo.co.uk It took me just under two weeks to complete (about an hour a night) and it'll cost ya about £65.

Very nice.

Is the £65 including paint and postage?

Would it not have been easier and cheaper to get it powder coated? Costs £30-£40.

Nice job.
Shot-blasting would have been a lot easier.

looks good. 14 hours work for 65 pounds is very generous!

Blasting it would have been far easier, but it's not always as option where the metal is thin and may become damage through the force required to remove paint, especially powdercoat. Also, it wouldn't give me a chance to inspect an old frame up close for cracks like I did with this one.

Nice, right up to the point when you put that shocking seat collar on it...

The seat collar was scratched to buggery so I cleaned it up and decided to spray it at home. Unfortunately the only thing I had that would do the job was some Plasticoat in that colour. If I ever buy some more paint I'll go over it.

If you were disgusted by the carpet and the seat collar then take a look at my CHROME FLAMES!!

They'll prevent cable rub so they're practical and stylish.

Yeah baby!

Seems a good enough carpet for the garage/workroom.

dudes you're missing the point, CHROME FLAMES !!!!

Actually the carpet came with the house and was already in place in my centrally heated man-cave.

Daft question but is it done with a spray gun or from a can or some other way? Looks pretty good!

I have a frame and am debating the best/most satisfying way to give it a new paint job. Its not worth a lot so even paying £65 or £30 to £40 for powder coating might be silly.

Anyone got decent results from a 'real' diy job??

I pondered doing a diy job (there's even a previous thread about it) but the time and effort envolved to even get a half decent finish were too much. A can of Hammerite (the straight to rust one) was about £7 or £8 and I reckon you'd need two to build up a nice thick coat.

I'm confused, I thought you did the work yourself, i.e. 'diy job'.

the powdercoat part was done by a specialist I've made friends with, the paint removal was done by me. hope that clears it up

can you leave an alu frame unpainted?
could you give it a clear lacquer

what did you use to strip the paint nitromors?

All dues to him removing it all by hand i did this a while back on a steel frame and it took an age even with nitromors and wire brush and wire brushes attached to a drill.

taka - that's how I received it
sanaapace - IT'S NOT PINK, it's avery manly claret, and it's not a dyson. Otherwise I totally agree.
colande - I wouldn't recommend it. Yes to Nitromors mmmmmmmmm
BWill - the top pic is exactly how I got it (i.e. half scraped)

I reckon I could strip a frame in a weekend without any worries....shame I don't have a weekend 🙁

Looks like a lot of work and a nice quality finish. Most DIY paintjobs look pretty poor.

Personally I don't like the colour at all, but if you like it then I guess it's a job well done.

(the flames and seatcollar are hideous BTW) 🙂

Yep, you'll have to polish it every now and again otherwise it'll be dull. 'Part from that, no worries
