My current tourer 700c wheels have Deore hubs, and run a 10sp Deore cassette that is really rather heavy. Im in the process of ordering some Hunt road disc wheels and was thinking that i could use a road ultegra or DA cassette as i have them in my spares box? Or should i buy a close range XT cassette? Is there any combination that wont work? I believe 11sp road and mtb cassettes are different widths, but im staying 10sp here.

Road and mtb 10sp cassettes will fit on the same freehub, they're just different ratios; i.e. road cassettes are much closer than mtb. If you were putting a wide mtb range cassette on a road wheel with a short cage derailleur then you might have problems but that doesn't seem to concern your query.

Ultegra and Dura-Ace 10 speed cassettes are 1mm narrower than MTB 10 speed cassettes but you get a spacer with them so they will fit your freehub fine.
