Is it possible to convert forks designed with remote lockout to manual. i.e. Is there an easy bodge.

Yes. Very easy. Open up that side and unhook the return spring. Put it back together and remove the cable. That's the bodge way. You can then replace the blue wheel with a proper knob but I haven't bothered. You can turn it by hand easily enough.
Lovely. Can it be done without taking the forks off and removing the lowers?
I think so. Undo the nut at the bottom and unscrew the assembly from the top iirc but I might be mixing my forks up. I think there is a guide on here somewhere.
Edit here's the guide: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1AoGIWBz4H1YWNhYWRkODYtNzRiNi00YTA1LTlmMjctNmQzOWQwMDdiZGFl/edit?hl=en&pli=1
There isn't a nut on the bottom, just unscrew it from the top with the forks on the bike. Easy peasy
Looks different from the one linked but I presume the principal is the same unhook it from the top

OK, got it unclipped. Though doesn't turn easily by hand.
Are all those turnkey knobs universal fit?
