Ventana El Saltamontes! What a bike... picked this up off Uphilla from the classifieds:

[img] [/img]

Received yesterday (thanks mate!) and built up last night with 'spares' I had in my treasure trove (nice bits to be sure!), took her out for a shakedown ride round the Surrey Hills today and my oh my, what a bike I have put together!

OK, a little bit heavy (no idea of exact weight, but it's not too bad, though certainly heavier than my old Yeti ASR and carbon Enduro SL) and I did feel this a bit on my normal route (though, tbh, I've recently been riding this on a titanium SS, so not a particularly fair comparison!). However... point this baby down hill and it is FRICKEN AWESOME! So smooth and controlled, so much fun to launch off stuff (my first ever coil bike, so it's a revelation to me!)...

'Barry Knows Best' was just soooo much fun, I ran through it at least half a dozen times, each time I reckon I was faster as the bike gave me confidence... I think I'm in love, who cares if she's a few years old, she's a SUPERB ride! Now... the question has to be asked... do I really need an Ibis Mojo HD when this is just soooo sweet? To be decided...

Here're a few pics of my 'new' baby... just for the heck of it really 8)

edited... ๐Ÿ˜ณ

weather was lovely today, beautiful crisp Autumn day, though a tad cold on the way home (my fault for not dressing appropriately!). Was nice to be out on a weekday with hardly any ramblers or other riders to contend with 8)

Trails were a tad greasy from the heavy rain yesterday and a few boogy patches/big puddles, but all in all, not too bad... loved the slippy trails actually, really enjoy getting it a little 'out of shape' at times ๐Ÿ˜‰ keeps one on ones toes, sharpens the reflexes and the like! 8)

It's not that old, it's a 2004 frame...

Brilliantly... really good to nail into corners, very stiff and direct... I'm no bike tester or journalist, so I won't try to wax lyrical, but it just felt very right to me, really happy with the build ๐Ÿ˜€

that looks nice, and was a bit of a bargain. Should be ace on the Surrey Hills.

Indeed...I struggle to resist 'bargains' and the like ๐Ÿ˜ณ

BTW, Vinnyeh, is it you who has a Mojo HD sitting at 'Head For the Hills' in Dorking? Had a good look over it while I was down there, definitely liking the Vitamin P now I've seen it in the flesh, really nice colour!

No, I guess that's heihei's.

Although, coincidentally, I've just this morning spoken to the really helpful people at The Bike Chain who are going to swap out the shock and chip from an HD 160 they've got in stock to convert it to 140.

Nice.
Looks a bit like mine.
(Minus the "looked-good-on-the-CRC-Order-page" turd brown seat & grip combo).
