Need some work done on the bike which is beyond me so have decided to leave it to a professional.

Bike shed...there's often a waiting list though.
Sunset and Cyclopedia tend to do a quick turn around and a decent job if you are in the city centre. Don Skene are also very helpful and quick.
my pennies worth, sunset or a bit further out skenes, both are good and get my vote.
Cyclopedia, hands down. Best bike shop I've ever used. They always have the obscure widget, bolt or bearing I need, and I've spent a lot of time waiting in there listening to them serve other people and never heard them say anything that wasn't accurate, informed and honest.
+1 for Cyclopaedia, massive fan of them. Great range, friendly service and very knowledgeable advice.
