For racing or other use?

For commuting/touring etc the Marin Lombard is a good buy.
For racing/commuting/touring/fun then the Surly Cross Check is a good un.

You should look at Kinesis too. Nice bikes.

Find a couple of hundred more and get the Boardman CX from Halfords.

Well for riding on my local trails, for fitness and too compliment my mtb'ing. Maybe with a view to racing. Not for commuting.

Thinking about either

Fuji Cross Comp.
Kona Jake
Focus Mares Comp
Spec Tricross comp.

Anyone got any advice?

Ta

I really rate the Scott which I'm racing at the moment.

Giant TCX also looks quite good.

GIANT TCX 2. I've had mine since Feburary, and love it. Pretty well rounded spec, perhaps the chainset isn't fantastic though.

Surprisingly 'characterful' ride for an aluminium CX bike.

Does it have to be new?! I've got a Kinesis Xlight 4T for sale - 60cm frame, how tall are you? 2yr old frame and fork with brand new Shimano Tiagra kit and decent wheels - £700 if you're interested?

Have a look at last years/ 2008 models. often not masses of difference but quite a big saving,. I got a year old Jake the Snake for £850. the one above sounds like a bargain....

Got my new Kinesis 5T yesterday, and its well now christenend now.

It was great, I didnt know why I have not got into CX before. It put a whole new perspective on my local trails. Alot faster on the non tech stuff. Its defo gonna increase my fitness and strength.

Can recommend getting a CX bike to anyone who is thinking about it.
