I've got a free weekend and want to go explore Scotland. I've only ridden the southern trail centres and want to find a 2 day ride that will be epic and memorable. Start and finish in the same place would be ace, and I’m happy to bike pack too.
I’ll be driving up from Manchester on the Friday night a need to be back for work on the Monday morning.
Any ideas?
I just did the West Highland Tour from Phil McKane's book (The Wild Trails). Fantastic route, two days with an overnight stop at the Meanach bothy behind Ben Nevis. It starts at the Nevis Range car park and is 70km in total. Probably 4-6hours per day. The riding and scenery are first rate. The navigation is fairly straight forward but it's a very remote ride so take care and prepare accordingly.
There's also the tour of the Cairngorms in the same book which starts/finishes in Blair Atholl, down as a 4 day but can be done in 2 days. Return down Glen Tilt is great.

A great mix of fast, rocky double track riding with some great singletrack thrown in. The scenery as you come around the back of the Mamores and Ben Nevis is stunning.
Many thanks to both of you, both routes look excellent!
