Howdy all,

I need a total overhaul on my bike, suspension, headset and BB bearings all need replacing, new gear cables, pedals serviced etc ...

I normally do all the bike work my self but I really don't have the time at the moment so need to take it to a shop to get sorted.

Can anybody recommend any shops in Hemel Hempstead (home) or St Albans (Work) to carry out the above work?

I'm very close to Leisure Wheels in Hemel but they had a bad rep ~8years ago, in terms of customer service and workshop skills. Don't if they've changed in recent times? For peace of mind I'd prefer to take it to a shop with a good reputation even if their prices are bit more than others or if there is a bit of a waiting list.

thanks, Jai

try Contour cycles Welwyn Garden city, they aren't too far from you, highly recommended , by me and others,
and they look after Uk Bike Skills Tony Doyle (Jedi) bikes and equipment

Addiktion on Victoria St were very good when I worked in the area. Built wheels for me and various service items. Not been in for about 5 years so can’t vouch for current state.

Another recommendation for Contour Cycles - I've dealt with the Stevenage branch and they've always been great.

Lovelo in Berkhamsted maybe - just a pootle along the canal bank from Hemel.

Only used them once (bearing change on a FS) but my BIL gets his road bikes serviced there.

Thanks for all the responses, a few of those shops are convenient for me to get to so I have a few options, thanks again.

"Leisure Wheels in Hemel but they had a bad rep ~8years ago"

We bought two bikes from them two to three years ago, on the back of that experience I would say things hadn't got any better.

In addition to the other suggestions you could also try Mountain Mania in Tring.

Lovello were very good. Loose Wheels were not.

Lloyd and Neil at Addiktion are both very good, would happily trust either of them with my bikes.

Before I used to do my own stuff I used Addiktion. Lloyd always did a good job.
Another option is Steve at Harpenden bike spa.A little further but he does do Collection and delivery.
