I'm looking for a book for my old man for Christmas and thought STW might throw up some ideas that I might well of missed. Not really looking for a bike specific book (although he does ride) but pretty much anything else goes!
He's 67, into all things outdoors, loves his gardening, travel, adventure etc or even just a good story.
Cheers
Any of the Ranulph Fiennes ones are worth a read.
I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes....fantastic book.
The Walker's Guide to Outdoor Clues and Signs by Tristan Gooley
A Book of Britain by Johnny Scott
Clarkson surely!
Walter Bonnatti - The Mountains of My Life.
Wade Davis - Into The Silence: The Great War, Mallory and the Conquest of Everest
For those who like data and football:
Chris Anderson and David Sally - The Numbers Game: Why Everything You Know About Football is Wrong
Ernest Shackleton, "South".
We Die Alone - David Howarth
My Outdoor Life by Ray Mears? (Signed ones available on the Woodlore website)
Or more sensibly, Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett 😆
goodreads is an excellent website - take a look at the various categories best of 2014 at the bottom of the home page.
This is one of the best books I've ever read.
And this one will have you wanting to race the Iditarod
Thanks for all the advice everyone! Some great sounding suggestions there, will look into them this weekend.
Bikey book, but The Rider by Tim Krabbe is an excellent short novel if he's familiar with road riding. And probably from around his time too. I really enjoyed it.
Your dad is the same age as I am. He would surely enjoy my book about the Northern California hippies who came up with mountain biking.
This book has travel/adventure/good story in abundance.

Highly recommended.
Repack - your signature has vanished. Good. Thank you. For pretty much everything.
Peter May's Island trilogy is very, very good. Detective stuff but done well with a bit of interesting history thrown in. I'd go so far as to say it's the best set of books I've read these last few years and I read a lot.
Jupiters Travels by Ted Simon, round the world motorbike trip in the 70's, superb read.
Alastair Humphreys two round the world on a bike books, very well written and addictive.
And second the Ranulph books,legend!
@ Repack Rider, your link needs you to log on to see it. However, I have found it here too

On the back of this book might I suggest “It’s All About the Bike: The Pursuit of Happiness on Two Wheels.” by Rob Penn
My stepdad really enjoyed Jackie Stewart's bio a few years back.
