Hello,
I've taken some chunks out of the shaft of my rear Fox Float R - tried filling and buffing them out but I think the shock still looses air (need a proper ride to check).
It's from 2001 and on it's second bike.
I'm quite strapped for cash at the moment, and I'm in no huge hurry (I've got other bikes to ride).
Options:-
Spend £10 on a new seal kit and give that a go (the seals may have been damaged by the burrs on the shaft)
Get a basic service and new shaft (about £110)
Get TF Tuned to 'Push' the shock (adds propedal etc.) and a new shaft (about £165)
Buy a new rear shock - about £200 min.
What would you do?
Cheers
Send it down to mojo. The guys there will have it sorted quickly and quite cheaply
The main shaft does not seal the air pressure - may well be fine, I had one with a wee chip out of it that was fine.
And if the burr has chewed the seals...it will only do the same to new ones.
As for push...I recently got a sh pushed shock and am not convinced. It has a rattly feeling on rebound that is annoying. Do you feel you need it?
I've bought a few sh shocks on ebay, always worked fine.
er, gratuitous plug but I have a new unused Float R Propedal in classifieds for £70 - less than a rebuild on yours!
