can anyone point me in the direction of a rear light with clip/loop securely onto my rucksack/bumbag? normal knog type lights with a clasp wont work as they are made to stretch around the seat post thus making it secure

google skills aren't working very well this morn, just want a small rear light to attach, would put one on my seat rails but they are carbon and from what Ive checked they don't fit on carbon rails?

any ideas?

Most of the Moon range will clip on to a pack pretty well, I've used my Shields as clip one before. Failing that, the Moon Comet can be had with a mount that would fit on to your saddle rails.

Hi Dave,

How's it going??

Maybe a bit bigger than you want but the Lezyne Zecto Drive has a clip and a decent rubber band type fitting.

I have a smart light with a good clip.ย  However lights clipped onto clothing or rucsacs are not very good ss they rarely end up pointing the right way and a light that attaches with a rubber band will be fine on a carbon stay

hey carl! all good thanks, how are you? fully recovered and back riding?

weirdly ive actually got that light haha, I assumed the way it stretches around the seat post it would'nt be very sturdy (flapping around) on a loop on a back pack with not being able to secure it fully tight? are you running one on your bag?

CFH - you sure it fits onto thicker carbon rails? It does look a good solution if so, and worth a punt if it fits

Aldi and Lidl do bike lights that would be perfect - rubberised loops that stretch round things (and would be safe on carbon)...nice and cheap so not such a huge issue if they get ripped off.

What cfh says. My moon nebula came with a good clip for bags/straps etc, a saddle rail mount and a standard o-ring mount.

cool, there does look a lot of mounting options with the nebula, this saddle rail will defo fit a carbon railed saddle right? just before I hit the buy button!

Dave - Pretty good thanks. Not 100% yet, still need another operation. I'm back on the bike now but need to take it easy. Fingers crossed I'll be right in another 6 weeks or so.

Mines on the backpack and very secure. The Evoc bag has a light loop on it so its perfect. Not sure about fitting to the seat post or rails though

Ah glad to hear your on the mend, hopefully be all good after this op, least your still managing to get out and about (not that its particularly worth going out at the min :/ haha! but better than not at all (just about!).....

ahh ok cool, well If yours has stayed in place, and as I have the same one ill give that a shot first then, I'm sure my bumbag/and camelback have loops on them to attach a light, seems pointless wasting money if that stays secure for you, nice one!

Do you have a little tab to attach one to? Something like a Smart R2 will clip onto one of those, a cable tie or rubber band around the clip and light once through the little tab secures it very well

hey ben - ive got a bontrager rapid pack (bumbag) I use for most winter riding and all night rides, its got a little pull tab on it where the bottle goes (google it you will see what I mean), that hopefully I can clip the light on to, only problem I can see is it may flap about as its quite a big loop, the light would probs be secure but the tab/loop is quite long

Ah OK - I see what you mean by the tab, and it would hold a light horizontally, rather than vertically like on many others. That makes it a bit trickier

I reckon a lezyne zecto would probably work OK still

You might be better using the horizontal tab on the pocket, that's also designed for a light and would hold it vertical, which would therefore also bounce less

based on commuters in London, you could put a light anywhere on your person and have it facing in any direction, hell you could even block it with another piece of clothing or a bag, apparently that's acceptable...

I use a Cateye on my backpack - with one of these brackets. Just put a bit of electrical tape across the gap to keep it secure.

ben - yeh you mean the horizontal tab where the bontrager sign is? didn't realise it looks like a tab until you've said then, but there are 2 slits in which the lezyne one would fit into quite securely....only slight downside is its on the left hand side, not the right (for traffic behind) but even still its bright enough light it wouldn't matter

that's the one. obvs designed for the US, it'll work enough but not as good as being on the right

I think that pull tab you were referring to originally is to open the stretchy pocket to get a bottle in (I have similar on my bigger waist pack)

yep - shame its not been put on the right for the UK, it would be perfect then, I can imagine the lezyne clip firmly sitting in that with no budge at all, Ill try it out on the left first, its still a bright light so I'm sure its still visible even on the left

and yep your right its just the pull cord/loop for the bottle, if it was a touch smaller in length it would be perfect, but I have a feeling it will just allow the lezyne to flap about up and down
